Remote Reagent Generation Sources

Generation of reagent species from high-field discharge or electrohydrodynamic sources has traditionally required sample ion-molecule reactions to occur in the high-field regions.  Sampling product ions from high field regions is difficult and inefficient.  There has always been a high positional dependence of discharge needle position and sampling aperture that makes the technique less rugged than desired.

We have developed a Remote Reagent Ion Generation (RIGG) source that isolated the reagent generation processes from the sample reaction region.  This technology has a number of advantages including increased sensitivity, more effective focusing, and positional independence of sample reaction region and sampling apertures.  A number of custom geometries are available by request.
